The techniques and concepts you will learn in these sessions will help you paint better pictures whether you're a location painter or a studio artist.

The format for these sessions will include regular demos and paint-a-longs as well as allowing students to work on individual projects. We will try to focus on one theme, technique or concept for a portion of each class.

Here are some of the possible topics:

  -  Making pictures rather than just copying what you see 
  -  How to develop a personal style
  -  Capturing light and atmospheric effects
  -  The Speed Palette and improving your production
  -  The importance of telling a story
  -  Creating good composition and picture design
  -  Choosing the right support or canvas for your working style
  -  How to stretch or mount canvas 
  -  Build a vocabulary of brush strokes
  -  Intuitive color instead of a formulaic approach
  -  Learn how to develop outdoor sketches into larger studio paintings
  -  Critiques of pre-existing and class work at the beginning of each session
  -  Tips on materials with ways to minimize art supply costs 
   
* For beginning students we will present many of the fundamentals that will help you to start painting and enjoying the process of learning as your progress. We'll help you select the basic materials and tools while providing low cost solutions to help you get started.
